Parents of missing Sarm Heslop appeal to Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab to assist the investigation, more than five months after mysterious disappearance.
Over the past 5 months we have endured a living hell trying to piece together what may have happened to our daughter. Her case deserves a full and thorough investigation.
The parents of Southampton woman, 41 year old Sarm Heslop who went missing from St. John in the US Virgin Islands in the early hours of Monday March 8, 2021 have sent a letter to the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs Dominic Raab requesting his assistance in furthering the investigation into the disappearance of their daughter.
In the letter, issued yesterday morning, they explain their frustration at the lack of information provided by Ryan Bane, owner and operator of the catamaran on which Sarm was living and working. “The Siren Song was Sarm’s place of residence and work and Mr Bane, as the owner and captain of the catamaran has a duty of care to his crew, as well as to his girlfriend. However, he has refused to speak further with the police (as is his right under American law), has refused a full forensic search of the Siren Song and is no longer in the USVI.”
Sarm’s parents, Brenda Street and Peter Heslop, continue with their heartfelt appeal to the Foreign Secretary and ask for his assistance now to help further the investigation “Over the past 5 months we have endured a living hell trying to piece together what may have happened to our daughter. We are so grateful to the US Virgin Islands Police Department, Hampshire Police Major Crime Unit and the local residents of the USVI, as well as Sarm’s friends across the globe, who have all helped in whatever way they can to continue the search.
Disappointingly, we feel that there has been only minimal support from the UK Government and the Foreign Commonwealth Development Office and we are now requesting your involvement to do all you can to assist us. Her case deserves a full and thorough investigation and as the key witness to Sarm’s last known whereabouts, Mr Bane should speak further with the VIPD.”
Finally they add,
Sarm is a strong, vibrant, joyful woman, as well as British citizen, and she deserves every effort we can possibly make to help find out what has happened to her and to bring her home.
Speaking on BBC Breakfast this morning, two of Sarm’s closest friends Kate Vernalls and Victoria Mogridge-Percy said “We are in constant contact with Brenda and Peter and are doing everything we can to help with the search for our friend. We feel like we’ve hit a brick wall and we need the UK Government to help us find answers for what has happened to her. We will not stop looking for Sarm.”
